Hi guys newbie here have a 2.6 1990 sportline 190E had gearbox work done quite a while ago, and when they put my girl together some numb nuts obviously went to smoko at the time he was doing up the clamp for the centre flex bearing clamp, as i notice a bit of an occasional rattle, clatter at the drive tunnel over the last few months and finally tracked it to one of the bolts on the flex bearing clamp being loose as hell, the other one was nice and tight, big question ..will this have damaged the bearing in anyway?? or anything else like the flex discs??Probably explains some of the drumming from the rear as well?? Am i best to replace flex discs plus bearing etc ..what about the bushes do you do those as well?? |

Thanks Richie! Ended up removing the drive shaft , what a mission. centre bearing dry and noisy. Interesting that the doughnuts recieved from the parts people are slightly different to originals but they assure me they are correct for my car.altho the front one is alot heavier and slightly thicker. my only issue is the universal joint which is "notchy" if i replace this its quite involved as i have to get them machined to fit new ones and also rebalance the propellor shaft in the process. has anyone done this?? ..repaired the universal if so did it make any difference?? |

If you are going that deep in the repair process it will be cheaper to find a complete replacement prop shaft, otherwise get the entire shaft to a specialist workshop to do a complete rebuild and rebalance the shaft assembly. |

yeah in machine shop now..one question i think my support bracket was on the wrong way i pulled off the drive shaft and it left the bearing behind!! WTF?? all the pics show the puller taking the rubber mount bracket and the bearing off together .....so maybe mine was put on incorrectly?? anyone shed light on this. |
