89/2.5d tried removing d/s headrest just clicks in a lock, got an older one 84 straight out

Try pulling the padded bit forward from the top to get the rear of it parallel to the roof , then pull it up nice and square . If it hasn't been put in square they can be a bit of a pig .

Pres the release button on the back of the seat back,feel around for an indentation in the back of the seat.
Press it in and remove the headrest.
