Hello everyone ![]() Looking forward to chatting to you all here, and learning a bit about my Merc at the same time! Ive been a VW thoroughbred all my life, and currently have 7 in my collection ( Mk1, 2 and 3 Golfs, one of them bieing one of the top Mk2 G60's in Europe ) and have helped run the VW enthusiast club here in Northern Ireland for the last 13 years. Being oldkool German through and through , ive always wanted to build a euro style 190e... so ive just bought one. ![]() The car is a 1991 190E Auto in white, originally exported to Japan when new and brought back here in 2003. The car is very clean, 150,000km / 89,000 miles on the clock, the floor, wheel wells and arches like new, with only a few parking marks to sort. Inside, she has air con, but no sunroof ( aircon not working so have to look into that ) A few problems with her ive experiaced in my first few days of ownership ( cutting out, wandering steering etc ) hopefully you guys can help me with your expertise and knowledge.... look forward to chatting to you all Si

Hi Si, Welcome to the forum, you will finds loads of good advise from some really decent guys on this forum. For interest what engine size is yours please? As I have a 190 E which is also a Japanese import and she is a 2.3. Mine has done 75000 miles, and she was wandering as well and I changed the steering damper MB part £38 quid, Anti roll bar bushes MB part around £20 quid, I also changed the suspension all round including strut mounts from MB around £180 quid. You willbe surprised how cheap MB parts are compared to Euro or GSF. kul |

Evening, welcome to the forum and greetings from 'Norn Iron'. I run the the Mercedes-Benz club events along with MICHAEL in Northern Ireland. As well as getting some ideas on here, I can point you in the right direction to local specialists if you come up against a brick wall. Plus, we'd love to have you as a member of the MB Club NI Region. If you're interested, get in touch. Enjoy the 190E. Great wee cars. |

Many thanks for the warm welcome guys ![]() Hopefully i can get a few niggly issues solved with the car before i loose heart and ship it on!! Thankyou Kul for the info on the wandering, i will have to get on the case with that as it really is concerning when trying to drive in a straight line! I m sure the people in the cars behind me must think im plastered behind the wheel!!! Mine is also a 2.3 auto. How do you find your fuel consumption, mine is dreadful, 87 miles to £20 of fuel!!!. If that is the best i can get, unfortunately she will be up for sale again next week!. Hey Gul, hows things with you, where abouts in Newtownabbey are you? Im based in Greenisland. What do you drive yourself? I havent seen a 190 on the road in so long, which is another reason why i bought one as i like to be a bit outside of the box lol. 2Benzes... good to meet you, look forward to meeting all you guys in the club, do you have monthly meets or hold any events? On the back of that, every year, GTINI ( the VW club i help run ) hold a big show in the grounds of Castlewellan Castle, and as well as having the largest gathering of VW's in Ireland, we have several enthusiast owner clubs there on the day too, would be great to have the Mercedes Owner club there too ![]() BTW Kul, i see your selling your 190, why for? Hi Si, Welcome back, I have had my 190 serviced and even got the HT leads and dizzy cap replaced, hence I get slightly better mileage from it. However saying that what are the fuel prices in Northern Ireland? Around where I live they are in thr region of 118p per litre. Reason im selling is once I got the hang of driving a Merc realised what I had been missing over the years, hence ended up buying another 2.0 190E and just bought a C class as well. Kul |

Welcome to the Club. After reading your post the wandering problem could be the ball joints as most of the guys on here will tell you they are a weak point on these models. The joints are not expensive but replacing them could be,see other posts on this subject. Very nice car! Steve. |
