Ok so I've kept the 16v mostly original since July (bar Neils old toliman wheels that used to be on my diesel beast ) but I can't resist improving it yeah yeahhhh... I can hear all the purists screaming lol but I don't care! My current plates are delaminating anyway and it's nothing that can't be reversed so does anyone know where I can get some legal pressed plates from but ones without the lip at the botton like Neils:http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b216/190Evoluzione/LRegPlate01.jpg I'm lead to believe Craigs Plates make this kind as do the dealers but does anyone know what the Dubmeisters ones are like or know where I can get the all rectangular LEGAL ones from? I'm also in need of a set of centre caps for the above mentioned wheels from my old 2.0l coming soon to a 16v near you I've already tryed the dealers but they said that there are now only two versions available silver and the blue wreath ones which are obviously lies...I hope

Make damn sure that the plates you buy exhibit the BSAU 145d mark. If not, they don't conform to British Standards and Plod can fine you for them. MB Dealerships only did 3D-Vision plates for a very short time, as the supplier got the hole-drilling wrong so many times that it was not economically sensible to supply them any more. Mine had to be re-done. I seem to recall mine costing me something daft like £55 a set.

Cheers Neil I was already aware of the BSAU 145d mark I'm just finding it extremely difficult to find any all rectangular ones! The 3D-Vision ones are easily available with the markings but they all have the lip at the bottom like yours... I know I'm being a bit anal about some plates but f'k it I may as well be if they're going to set me back at least £35+P&P

Chris, in the event that you get bored looking for the exact caps, try searching for a production car with Titanium/Anthracite Grey alloys as standard, see how close a match they are to your wheels, then have a Google to see which paint owners of those cars use to refurb their wheels. Sounds like a hassle but I did it a while ago in order to find the match for Clio 182 Cup alloys. Turned out to be Rover Stone Grey. HTH. |

Cheers for the advise guys although tbh I can't imagine MB Croydon being able to find me the paint code they couldn't even find me the centre caps! Matt, my centre caps were never the 'correct' ones to begin with, not that I disliked them I'm just looking for a new set now as they went all flaky on me. I want to touch a few scuffs in on the rims too so I gathered if I can get some paint then I can tackle two jobs at the same time. |
