Having just purchased my first 190e, a 2l auto, I have a few questions. When the remote alarm is set (factory fitted) the doors lock ok but the RH indicators stay lit. Any ideas? Is the gear selector supposed to be illuminated? If so, how do i change the bulbs? And what about the ignition and headlight switch? The fuel gauge fluctuates most of the time, even when stationary. I'm thinking this might be a bad earth, suggestions? Apart from that it drives beautifully, so smooth. With FSH, overmats, ew, sunroof, immaculate interior and exterior, first aid kit, triangle in boot, toolkit. 141k. Not bad for a 19 yr old car! I was a bit unsure about buying another old car but so far all appears ok. Let's hope it stays that way! Thanks for any assistance you can give me. Edited by Mork, Fri Nov 12, 2010 7:23 pm.

The fuel level issue is either a faulty sender (they are about £50 to buy I think), or a dodgy earth. The earth for the sender is in in the boot, under the left hand plastic liner, its roughly at the bottom of the electric aerial unit. The liners can be a bit of a pain to get out (and in) until you get the knack so take it slow and careful you dont cut your wrists. Faulty senders are quite common now they are getting old, they arent hard to change, but put your ciggy out first ![]() Headlight switch and ignition are not illuminated on the 190. The gear selector should be. Are the switches near it illuminated ? If so then I think the bulb for the selector is accessible once you take the gearshift surround off, I think thats right although its been a while. If the window switches don't light up its your feed, I dont know much about it but it does seem to be quite common. I am not sure about your indicator/alarm problem. Its just possible its related to your earth problem so fix that first and see if it still happens. |
