This has been exactly the case picked her up late last night and Yes Maggot found her above on PH. She has 138K on the clock but she has been very well maintained has a folder full of history and a fully stamp service record only the last two services were specialist over dealer service. She drives faultlessly all the electrics work apart from the climate control not being a cold as I feel it should.
Engines a peach god they do pull like trains dont they?? Was out until 3 this morning in her !! :o :o
The colour was so important. No offence to any designo owners out there but the two tone interiors actually cause me migranes
Body wise she has some slight bubbling at the leading edge of the wings above the bumper where they all seem to go boot l;id is fine as are the door tops with one being slightly stained with rust on a very small area I am sure it will be slightly crusty onece the rubber is removed.

As I said she drives faultlessly with a super smooth gearchanges and the V8 shes a world aprt from the Taxi! lmao

I even had some dick in a Saxo VTS trying to push me to race !!! I let him go as I am getting to old for all that and probaly would have lost my license again anyway for nothing lol. But at the next set of lights I could'nt resist it and planted the throttle lets just say the Contis on the rear wont last too long if I keep doing that.

Optionswise she seems to have it all (Not entirely sure whats standard and whats not on an E55) its got ADS which seems to firm the suspension up slightly. But Xenons it hasnt got a potential upgarde not sure. The sopund system is great to with how ever many Bose speakers lol leccy triple mem seats heated x 4. rear blind Parking sensors not sure if as standard or option but yes they are there. Ahh there is one other issue every now and then if you touch the volume dial on the radio slighty off centre the radio turns off with very little pressure so thats an up and coming fault !! lol

Anyway at the sub 4k price I got her for when you think 12 years ago she drained 65K out of someones pocket/account its an utter bargain. and regardless of what most people say I consider her a very capable car. Two of my mates yesterday bleated Oh you should have bought the M5 mate much better car for the twisties.

If I wanted an M5 I would join a BMW forum rite    Smiffy I am just kiddin pal   Anyway I love the straight line grunt....

She is as clean as she looks in the pics but just needs some very minor tidying and a wheel refurb to make perfect.

I did test drive a 210 55 with less miles on her she had 89K TBH the extra 50-60K on mine doesnt bear on the way she drives they both felt identical. Potentially just good maintenance. I mean the guy had brand new Continetal tyres fitted if he was a maintenance cheap skate they would have been Nankang or Marshalls all the way :D

Thanks for all the comments so far guys I am well chuffed with her she is off to have any paint and body bits done this weekend coming.

Had her out last night again and drove her up the big smoke this morn and I must say I havent enjoyed sitting in traffic ever apart fronm this morning don't get me wrong the novelty of traffic sat in an AMG will morte than likely last till this evening but I am hugely suprised how smooth and serene she is when not pushing on. The roads last nite proved perfect ground mto test her grip etc in normal driving and helped get used to her characteristics when she lets go. Tail happy but very controllable with traction reduction switch off as I call it. lol

I have done £100 in Juice already since Sunday night! :o :o :help:  Bear in mind I work for 12 hrs of a day so that was most of yesterday not even near her!! A hundred quid ffs I am gonna love this car !!

Mind you I am not bothered otherwise I would not have bought a car with a V8 in it. :D

Cheers Jezzer,

An animal the engine certainly is if you get the speed kick down and revs right when you toe it F**k me its brutal. as for feul she is not as bad as I imagined and TBH on the motorway driven sensibly without fearing the throttle pedal if you know what I mean she seem reasonable (Marcus maybe you could comment there with more experience behind the wheel??) but yes any thing over half throttle and it seems to open the fuel tank drain tap! but like I said i will not moan about that I knew what I was buying when I bought it so now to find a tiny small diesel station **insert swear word here** box to compensate for the days when I am not flush and cant take the 55 out lmao lmao

Funnily enough I got tugged by traffic in the Taxi and was asked to remove my roof sign which I did. BUT as it is not illegal for me to drive the car with the sign on as long as its not illuminated I am not breaking any law so its back on now...

Nice looking car Simon, best colour combo for one of these IMHO B)

Engine note becomes addictive, and they're still pretty quick cars today in a straight line, vast amount of car for the money :)

Yours looks quite clean and doesn't sound too bad rust-wise, but I strongly recommend a good poke around the front coil sping perches where the cups are welded on - they can rust away unnoticed and collapse, quite a weakness on the W210 and an important check on examples of this age, along with the front crossmember (they hold water and rust from above).

Otherwise, enjoy and mechanically very tough cars - I'm sure you'll have plenty of fun :driver:

Once again thanks for all your comments so far.

I must say there really is a lot of car there and capable is an understatement!! The engine pulls like a train and as Will said above the engine note is addictive I seriously considered phoning FRANK when I arrived home last night and then thought Nah F**k it I like this too much!! TBH they are not the quickest cars on the road by any means but there wont be alot out there that can leave you that far behind on a straight run drag the rest may be a close race and there will be alot of standard stuff you can simply blow away, mid speed acceleration though is just packed with torque my back still hurts from the shove I keep getting :D .

She drive faultlessly and I am becoming more and more addicted each day. I did check the spring perches and they looked absolutley fine so hope fully all good there TBH rust wise whe is not that bad for a 98 car but we will see she is going in to have any small imperfections refinished at the bodyshop.

Still thinking about diamond cutting the wheel inclusive of the face of the rims but prior to having that done getting the faces powder coated black that way the inserts and AMG logos will be black, Or do you think 'Just leave it alone Si' If its the latter I understand but may end up saying bollox and doing in anyway

Hi Simon
A car you wont regret buying and a car you deffo wont get bored of driving.
As for economy i average around 26 mpg and have dropped to 21 mpg on occasion (based on a full tank) and i dont hang around ;)
A little trick you may not be aware of is that you can reset the adaptive gearbox ecu bypassing the info stored and turning it into even more of an animal :)
turn on the ignition but dont start the engine, push the throttle pedal to the floor hold it there and turn the ignition off still holding full throttle for a further 5 seconds. Slowly release the pedal until it reaches it stop position. Leave the car for 1 minute and then have fun fun fun.
Another way to improve further is to disconnect the battery for a while. When you reconnect all ecu's will have been reset, but be aware that all windows will need to be reset. Down all the way, hold and listen for a click, up and listen for click. This will need doing to all windows and the sunroof. When you start the car you will get BAS and ASD warnings on the multi display. To remove these errors turn the steering to full lock left and right, the system will be recalibrated.

Oh and congratulations :)

;) Cheers Marcus quality info am seriously considering going out there now and trying that :D I am being serious :driver:

how does that affect the smoothness of the box when cruising? i guess that depends on how you drive her doh!

Oh and definitely polish those lips they will really set the car off with those centres.

Thanks Marcus glad to be a 190 club member who has now joined the 190 owners club for E55s

Marcus that info about the pedal pushing does Zilch for the adaptive settings of the box,it is a way of manually resetting the throttle valve stop teach in.
The ONLY way to properly readapt the box is using STAR,disconnecting the battery might reset them to factory but the box is not adapted properly.

Hi Andy
Cheers for the info. It certainly does something as the car turns into an animal again until its been driven for a while and re-learns something about your driving style. Holds the revs to red line immediately too without having to thrash it a couple of times telling it you want to play. Would be interested in learning more about it if you have any info. Whatever it does is deffo worth a go :)

I cant stop driving her help I thought hard drugs were bad and addictive this car is one big VICE cant help getting in it for the shortest of drives. Ok using it to get from my drive way to my next door neighbours was taking the **insert swear word here** but I still enjoyed it....

260 miles to a tank brimmed from almost dry she took £90 of V Power and munched it over the period of 12 hours from Fri night through Sat morning.

I must say I absolutely love it much more than I thought I would ever like a 210 and she drives faultessly no rattles everything works and she is quick a couple of mate mentioned she felt quicker than other 55 AMG 210's they had driven before mind you they were wagons   so that will be the answer on that one then!!

Just thought I would add if you really want one of these or are considering one buy it honestly you shouldnt be dissapointted justr make sure you can put Petrol in her thats all even the insurance and servicing cud be reasonable to a point its the thirst you need preparation for or just drive everywhere at 1000 RPM
