Hey, thought I would upload some photos of my recent purchase, a 1993 190LE 1.8 which I've had for a few months. It's my first 190 and it felt like driving a tank at first, but has been superbly comfortable and smooth and I love it.

It's all original, which is how I'd like to keep it, but I would like some advice on the rear wheels. I'd really like to improve the look of them as they're rather recessed in. Could I push them out a bit using a spacer, or would they just rub on the arches? Any advice welcome!

Cheers,
Simon

Welcome aboard.

Nice looking car. If you want to improve looks spacers and longer wheel bolts will work but check the wheel offset you have first.
Better to find same wheel design in 16 inch as it was standard on many e-class models.

Hi & welcome to another fellow LE owner.

I think the wheels look just fine as they are (but then I would say that wouldn't I).

As previously stated a set of 8 hole 16 inch wheels would probably fit the bill.

Hope that you have many years of enjoyable ownership.

Hello and welcome, you have a nice sample. I was about to advise smth wider better than the spacers, however, you seem to like the originals rather.

Hi mate,

Thanks for your kind words. Yes, I have uploaded pics in the 'show off your 190' section. The thread is currently about 1/3 down on page 2.

You LE looks just as good if not better if you ask me.

Out of interest did your car come with it's original stereo?

I like the Rosso red colour - there's a Rosso red 2.0 LE for sale on Tristar Modern Classics for 5K.

I have the original stereo (radio cassette) it's a Blaupunkt Boston CC 22. I've resisted replacing it with a more modern stereo, at least I know no one is ever going to break into my car to steal it, but I haven't had cassette's for years.

I'm having an issue with a leaking boot at the mo, and think the spoiler could be the cause so need to spend some time sorting that :(

Hi & welcome , nice car btw .

Wet boots have been covered many times on here . My first 190 came with half a bootful of water .

Boot lock seals , bootlid seals & leaky sunroofs being the main culprits .

Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for the welcome. I've had a good look through the posts on leaking boots - it seems to be a recurring problem - so I've picked up some useful tips.

Hi again Simon,

I had the exact same problem when I got my LE. It maybe the same issue. It's an easy fix if it is! Just remove the little vents (you will see a single screw when you open the rear doors). Once the screw is removed carefully ease the vent off and behind you will see a grey/black rubber drain channel. Where this rubber part is touching the surrounding metal you will see some sealant. See if you can find any gaps where the sealant has cracked or split. Mine was quite bad and you could easily lift the rubber away from the sealant. I therefore scraped off as much of the old sealant as I could and re-sealed with black/grey roof mastic. Not one drop of water has entered the boot since and that was 3 years ago.

If you need any help just PM me.

Good luck.

Welcome fellow LE owner. Nice to see another LE in the safe hands of an enthusiast. :)

Mine is an identical twin to yours just minus the spoiler.

Good luck with it!

PS - Was this the one on Autotrader?

Hey nullogik,

My LE came from Mark Taylor (MTSV) in West Yorkshire. I saw it in his garage before it was ready for sale and he was good enough to let me take it before he'd advertised it. He did a thoroughly good job of cleaning it up and was an all round decent chap (I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him if you wanted a merc).
