Hi,

I think my radiator is blocked leading to overheating problems.

When I disconnect the top and bottom hoses, then put a garden hose in the top inlet, NO water comes out the bottom of the radiator, it just spurts back around the hose...if you put a hose into the top, the water should come out the bottom...right?

Also noticed when it overheats the hose at the top is extremely hot while the return hose from the bottom is cold.

SO is the radiator completely blocked?

thanks in advance!

I think the hot water travels thru the stat via top hose down thru rad then back to engine?????

I'm only really here for the Kitchens

certainly seems to be completely blocked, I havent actually seen this before but try reverse flushing it, force water in the bottom in the hope it will push any rust flakes upwards and free it up. You can do this in situ without removing the car if you prefer.

The chances are that the rad is clogged by old anti-freeze, which waxes up. They are famous for this (as I know- I've replaced three) and it is generally recommended to drain, flush and refill every two years. While you're at it, change the thermostat housing for a shiny new metal one.
