Get used to it, the 2.0 190D will never be a Supercar!!! ;)

Being serious though, diesels require a different driving style if you want performance, keep it in lower gears with higher revs but fuel consumption will suffer!!
Shrekky seems to have quite a quick one, i'm sure he'll be along soon, but again it could just be a lead foot!! ;) :)

I think Shrekky also worked out a way so that more air and fuel can get into the system with a change of airfilters and pipes.

Where are you Shaun?

Change the Fuel filters, as they may be clogged and be stopping the fuel getting through.
One is a canister in front of the engine block (fill with diesel/vegetable oil when refitting a new one otherwise you will flatten the battery cranking the engine) the other is an inline filter which you will see when you remove the airbox, may as well change the air filter too,

I would give it a good service : oil. oil filter. try using iridium spark plugs, change the distributor cap and rotor arm and should run better.

If that dosen't work put an AMG sticker at the back of the car.

Give it a good service( ie a filter change) and it will be as good as gold. I have no issues with my 2.0D. I am used to driving a BMW 320D Turbo . And in comparison to that the 190 is not too bad

PARI- y aren't you answering your phone. Called you 3 times today ( from my office number) and you never bothered to pick up

you are correct alan, i did indeed change the diff, i put a one from a 2.0 auto petrol car in,as mine was knackered, i also changed the exhaust, i kept the original down pipe, but from there back over, i put a 2 1/2 inch straight through pipe onto a magnum sports backbox, i also changed the air intake, as the original one strangles the engine, take the cone shaped one out and put a wide straight bit of tube in, i used one from a citroen xantia, havent tampered with the fuel mixture yet but i am going too ;)

as the only problem i have is a flat spot between 55-60mph in 3rd gear  "before"

these modifications dont really make it any faster as such but it does make it alot more drivable especially up hills ;)
