I think the answer to that is no, they can't. Manufacturers weren't testing to an agreed standard back then and there were no figures That said, if you go to the Irish import pages they have approximate figures they use to calculate VRT for imports: https://www.ros.ie/evrt-enquiry/vrtenquiry.html Nick Froome www.w124.co.uk |

Thanks for the reply Nick. The Irish VRT system is the reason for my enquiry! You are correct. No official MB statistics are available as such data was not noted on the certificate of conformity prior to 2001 I believe. However, cars imported into Ireland are now registered on the basis of CO2 emissions - the higher the emissions the higher the import registration tax. If one can't prove the CO2 emissions the Revenue Commisioners unfairly apply the highest rate of tax. I really would like to prove them wrong! Anyone got a CO2 value even on an old MOT? My previous 2.5-16 had 556 parts per million but I dont know what yours would be but I dont think it would be less than the 336 parts per million rate for the upper tax bracket. 'I think its 336 per million limit'.

Alan their system is based on hydrocarbons, on your slip its under ppm parts per million, which yours is 200 so it would be in a lower tax bracket. |

Soarhead I'm might be wrong yours could be below the upper limit as Alan's is but you need to get it tested to then stick the receipt up the VRT mans nose.
