 First of all i would like to say happy new year to all at this forum. My wife said we we were not getting each other christmas presents this year. I thought this was a great idea as it allowed me to buy my own being a Mercedes 190 2.3 16v Cosworth. This came as a bit of a surprise to her as she thought it was a way of saving money lol. I had not researched the car much or visited your site before my purchase meaning i have probably made some mistakes. I have a brother in law that was consistently pestering me to buy a seirra cosworth as he is an old school ford nut. This was not tugging my rug enough as i feel they are a great car but overpriced and a bit in your face whale tale 3 dr would have been the option. This did by chance lead me to the 190 cosworth as one or two cropped up due to the sharing of the word cosworth. I was drawn in by the fact that they are a discreat weapon and there arent that many about and the prices were more favourable. The one i have bought is Black/grey has half leather and the dog leg manual gearbox with 110k with history. The car has after market amg wheels and is in very good condition or at least what i can see. Saw the car on piston heads on the 22nd dec, bought over the phone for 3k collected on the 23rd drove home took 6 hours didnnt break down bonus. It has a couple of small probs that i will post on the relevant sections i also have some spare cash as the car was so cheap so maybe there are things that i should look at doing as a matter of course. if you have any advise for me i would be very greatfull. i live on the wirral ch63 so if there is someone local that could check it over that would be great. Will post some pics when i can love it ticks all the boxes and more. Just so everyone knows iam just less than useless on computers this is the first forum i have been on, took me 1 hour to figure out how to put this on!

Forum member Ukmertechie has his own garage called Autobarn and he's in Cheshire in the ledham area, probably not to far. I use him for my 2.5-16v as do quite a few other members.

Welcome, looks like a clean car you have there. First thing I would do is start looking for rust, mostley where the bodykit is. It's something you can do yourself. The only thing I did notice is the wheels are replicas but no biggie.

Anyways congratulations on not buying a Ford!

Congratulations on the purchase.

I think this used to belong a member on here. Remember it being advertised here and on PH.

Good luck and all the best with the car.

Would sooner have had the Ford Cosworth, but like you said, they are much more expensive.

Lovely example you have there though, and relatively cheap eh. What were the things you found wrong with it then?

Hello and welcome :)

Lovely car you have there. The colour is 199 black pearl (blue-black) (blauschwarz). Nice wheels but you will find they are very heavy when compared to the original forged sportline wheels which will affect the handling.

Does it still have it's SLS fitted?

I'l second the AutoBarn recommendation.

If i remember correctly, I think it did belong to a forum member (can't remember the name though?).

Hope you manage to get the little niggles sorted. Other than that, sounds and looks like a great car!
