As per title. What are the symptoms and what effect would a worn prop bearing have on how the car drives? For instance, would it make the car more jerky to drive? |

Hmm. I'd certainly expect vibration if the doughnut bushes were shot but would you really get it from the bearing? I noticed a lot of movement from the bearing the last time I was under the car. Does the bearing have a rubber bush of it's own that can fail? Edited by stwat, Tue Jan 18, 2011 12:29 am.

I would expect vibration at speed and excessive flexing of the prop (banging ?) when under load |

vibration on accell/decell and when engaged in gear and often a tang/ting/clunk noise resonating through the prop shaft on rotation .. should be smooth with the clutch in / in neutral though i recently had to replace the CV joined on my BMW, so im guessing its the same if theres ANY play in the prop shaft joints at all, they need changing as they deteriorate extremely quick when loose |
