The only cleaning solution I found with back to bact testing on emissions is called CATACLEAN. It's formulation cleans carbon deposits from intake valves and also helps to unblock catalytic converters. When I used it I didn't see any difference in miles/ fuel tank, but it helped to remove some dead spots at higher RPM when cruising. For mileage improvement Redex worked best for me. Cataclean costed me £15 2 years ago. You can find it at GSF car parts. |

I ve used Wynns products for injection cleaning and engine oil flush and I was not impressed. I think it's a bit overmarketed firm name |

Lucas upper cylinder clean or Full Clean every 6000 mileish will keep your engine ticke-dy-boo. Agree with the comment on getting the engine set up properly first, though if you havent had it done yet. Or if you know a garage with a gas tester as they use for the mot`s,just get them to print a general check of your engine, which will tell you whether your engine is there or there abouts or whether it will need setting up properly. |

Yep, I use Lucas octane booster/upper cylinder lubricant/injector cleaner on every service both on my own cars and my customers and i've had no negative feedback whatsoever and the UK importer is down the road so I have ready access to all their products and they sell cases of the stuff! |

I use STP Injector Cleaner once every 6 or 7 tankfuls. Whether it does any good, or is five quid up in smoke, is beyond me ![]() Tbh it wouldn't surprise me if the stuff in it was also present in premium fuels from BP, Shell, etc. |

It is but more so in the 97ron variety and test on cars over a 100k period show much cleaner head, valves and piston crown because of it. I only use it in the valver but it doesn't suit all engines. |

I always use those higher-RON fuels, unless I get caught short somewhere that only has standard unleaded. In fact, I believe the timing is set up for it - ![]() ![]() Barely do any city driving at all now too, so the car always gets a good run out. |

Quite correct Neil, back when these cars were born 'N' on the ELZ was for 91Ron and 'S' was for 95Ron but I should have made my point more clear, that use of better quality fuel means that any additive should not be required. The fact the some gain results from there use means either a poorer quality is in use or over time the change in the chemical breakdown of fuels does not favour some of our cars. Also 91 and 95Ron is only standard in Germany most of Europe is different as is the world with differing quality of fuels. |
