Any idea why my 190 2.0 (93K) is being mardy. I've Just changed the OVP because the dash warning lights worked only sometimes when turning the key. (I did post a question about this a few weeks ago). There is also a rare moment it will cut out when coming to a stop. Or have an erratic idle. Reading posts on here I thought it was worth a try. I thought it had cured it but it's back. However, It strangely seems more responsive and my interior light has started working. It's driving me mad as I now can't trust it! Will it let me down... Could it be the ignition barrel sensing it's being switched off? Would it do that? There must be something simple doing this. So if you could help in anyway for me to have a look. Listing some possible things it could be... or I'll have to get Derek Acorah in to look over it Cheers Mike |

I would check the ignition switch and contacts first. They can go dodgy. Other than that I don't know. Usual suspects like cap/rotor HT's ect, gunked up intake. How old is the fuel filter, blah blah. The dash warning lights and the now cutting out really suggests the switch contacts to me though. If i remember right, you can get to the back of the barrel by removing the panel under the dash (above the driver's knees) It's fiddley and compact under there and you need to do a handstand with a torch ![]() I changed the barrel/switch/steering lock, whole caboodle, when it jammed up on my 2.5D. It was a pain in the rectum as the barrel was jammed (you need to turn it to position 1 to get it out). Anyway, stupid me managed to get the whole thing out and you need only to check the contacts (I think there is a sort of circular black plug on the back of it). If you need to remove the switch, the steering wheel and cowl will have to come off. I hope some of this helps. Al |

Thanks Al. The dash lights didn't come on last night. Turned the key back, wiggled it, tried again and they came on. So chancers are the ig area... I will change the fuel filter anyway just in case... Don't think it's leads, only cut out twice when almost coming to a stop, not under load.. I'll report back with any updates thanks again Mike. |

Yes. It really sounds like the ignition switch. Maybe try unplugging it and checking the contacts. They look like this: ![]() If its the contacts inside the switch itself, that could be trickier. Al |
