i am about to fit my standard replacement front section of exhaust do i need any gaskets or not? cheers

it would be advisable, i supposed it really depends what condition your are in at the moment. They don't cost much so you shouldn't cut corners.

If you mean downpipes. there are no gaskets. just clean the joints with steel wool or scotchbrite or sand paper.
Front to mid section there are two metal seal rings I think so you should get them replaced by new ones
