Hello,
Last Sunday, I changed the oil of the diff as follows:
I prepared the 14 mm hexagonal key to loosen the the 2 plugs (the filling & draining)
Posted Image

Then I let the old oil drop

It seems clean as the pic tells
Posted Image

Brushing the plugs
Posted Image

Quite clean

Returning the draining one back
Posted Image

Filling the syringe with new oil
Posted Image

Returning the extra drops to the can

:) :)

Nicely illustrated posting. But one heads-up comment:

Your car is equipped with an ASD differential which has internal "LSD" type clutches. The Castrol EXP 80w-90 oil used in the oil change is a good general purpose gearbox/diff lube but is not the proper oil for a diff with internal clutches. It will increase clutch slippage and wear. The correct Castrol oil for a Merc LSD/ASD diff is LSX-90 which is formulated specifically for diffs with internal clutches.

Side note: always remove the fill plug before attempting to remove the drain plug. You do not want to end up in the situation where you have removed the drain plug, drained the oil, only to find that you can not loosen and remove the fill plug.

bobf

Thanks for your comment; in fact, I could not find the type you mentioned in my area. And if the case is so, I may resort to MB and buy a liter and half of an original product (as the diss takes about 1.1 liter) and consider the one I am using now as a flush for the diff :) As for the issue of the plugs, I think you are a little bit confused with the 6th pic; it is about doing the draining plug before filling the diff, as I am never ever used to undo the filling one before the drainer. I used to be a trucker and did all this stuff with huge diffs and gears ;)
