:help: My 1992 1.8 manual has developed a small problem , if I start the car first thing in the morning and only drive a short distance and switch it off , when I restart it , after 2 or 3 minutes of driving the car try's to die , even though the car will idle continually , there is no throttle response unless it is full throttle , but several full throttle openings will clear the problem , once normal running temp is achieved it runs and starts fine all day .
Any Ideas ?

Hi, Linda,
Sounds like the AFM plate is fouling on some oily gunge in the air intake below the air box - so take it off and give the area around the circular flap, which is supposed to move freely up and down, a wipe with some white spirit/turps.

I agree with the cleaning of AFM plate and surounding area I disagree with the white spirit though as you have some rubber parts there.

Get a WD40 bottle and spray it around to get all that crap off the metal and ensure that the flap can do its full stroke.

its worth checking the distributor cap,is in good order.
my white 190 had the same problem for ages,it was usually worse if it had been raining during the night,
mine was moister in the cap itself,
yours sounds like a fuel problem ,but mine was electrical,wd40 sprayed on the cap and the leads might help,

It could be the fuel pump relay playing up. Over the years they get dry solder joints that work(or don't work) intermittently.

They can be fixed by re-soldering any dry joints found.
