I have the half shafts out of the car already, and want to fit new CV boots (which i also have here). But how do i go about splitting the cv joint or disassembling the driveshaft to get the new boots on? |

On the diff end there is a metal pie tin, gently tap around the edge (if you clean them you will see the step), remove the circlip inside and the joint will pull or tap off. Then you can remove the boots. As for the outer ends I think they knock off but I'm unsure. |

All 4 CV boots changed there now, and i'd easily say this is the messiest job i've had to do on a car lol, and I've rebuilt old crap covered diesel engines before. Once i had the 'pie tin' knocked off the inner CV side, I pulled the joint apart and removed the circlip and cage etc, i was able to fit both inner and outter cv boots at this stage then rebuilt it all. ... grease ended up EVERYWHERE haha |
