first thing to do would be, clean and spray the bolts on the diff end with WD40...........if you can do this a couple of days running and leave it now there are 2 different types of bolts on the diff end, spline bolts and allen key bolts. the way i do it is ,while the car is on the ground, and have a friend pressing the brakes as hard as they can, remove the centre of the wheel and crack off the nut on the end of the driveshaft (30mm if i remember correctly). now to avoid rounding the splines/allen key you need to have the tool as straight as possible, and i have found if you put the car on a axle stand(keeping the opposite wheel on the ground) and have the suspension hanging, remove the wheel, and go in over the hub and straight over the top of the driveshaft, at this point it would be handy to have someone with a pipe wrench on the driveshaft counter-acting the turning when you try and undo the bolts.or if you are by yourself (and i probably get grief from the helf and faftey brigade here...lol ) i jam a screwdriver in the prop joint and against the body to stop the diff from turning. once you have undone one bolt you will have to turn the driveshaft, so that the bolt you are undoing is at the top at all times. once the bolts are out the driveshaft will fall straight out.the wheel end, having taken the nut off, this end should just push out, might have to use a bit of friendly persuation, not much though. to re-fit the driveshaft, put it in the whell end first, making sure it goes all the way in, put the nut on finger tight.and there is enough movement in the driveshaft you should be able to push it towards the wheel and sit it in the cup on the diff end refit the bolts to a torque of 70NM,then have someone in the car pressing the brake,,and torque the nut on the end of the driveshaft as much as you can ,without the hub spinning. torque for the driveshaft nut is 280-320 NM dont worry if you cant get it tighten as much as that, put the wheel back on ,drop the car on the ground ,having a friend on the brakes and the force of the wheel on the ground should be enough that you can torque the driveshaft nut all the way up Edited by shrekky, Sun Jun 26, 2011 12:40 pm.
