Just removed the rear half of the prop shaft (includes universal joint, bearing, and rubber mount). The rubber mount, shaped like a doughnut, and surrounding the bearing is goosed. torn quite a bit. So how do i get this doughnut off and the new one on? Is it all one piece with the bearing? does it need to be pressed on afterwards??? |

update on this, I tried removing the donut + bearing with a wee bearing puller i had. It took the rubber off no bother, but the bearing was a different story, it actually tearing the arms on my bearing puller apart. Ended up taking it to a local mechanic, 30ton press and a fancy bearing collar he had pushed it out in 2 seconds. As a replacement you can buy just the bearing for £8-9, or bearing + donut + mount for £30ish. I believe it is the same part used for all the 190e range, and the c-class aswell. The new bearing+donut combo was drifted into place with a hammer and the old bearing as a cushion between the two. Edited by PhilG, Mon Jul 4, 2011 10:36 pm.
