Under the bonnet, near the battery itself and close to the front strut top mount - it should have a black plastic cover over the top of it. There will be a diagnostic socket nearby with numbers too. Will |

You can just make it out in the bottom of this picture:![]() Between the strut and the battery. Relay at the bottom, diag socket just above it. Will |

Isn't the ASD system self bleed just like the SLS ? I'm pretty sure the bridging of the pins on the diagnostic panel is simply to read and clear any fault codes you may have after you have fitted the diff. See HERE Edited by stwat, Mon Jul 4, 2011 11:13 pm.

cheers lads. I see a few people saying its self bleeding, but whats the purpose of the bleed screws then? one on the diff and one on the SLS valve. I think the ASD system only activates at a couple of mph, so bridging the pins in the diagnostic plug will trick the system into thinking its moving, and send fluid to the diff. Is this correct? I'm sorry mate I don't have an answer for that. All I know is I have had my SLS/ASD system fully empty a few times and all I did to bleed the system was refill it and take the car for a drive until it was sitting level at the rear. Then check and top up the bottle if needed. I have never needed to go near the screws on the diff or the valve and neither have many other members who have worked on the SLS/ASD system. |

Would be inclined to agree with Stu. The system should generally be self-bleeding as it recirculates the hydraulic fluid in a loop. Those nipples are used primarily to release pressure on the hydraulic fluid if you are to be working onto system, but I have never had an issue by slackening one of the unions to release pressure that way. I've never needed to bleed air from those nipples either. |

riteo i'll top up the reservoir and see how it goes. I have my SLS valve locked in the neutral position so it should be sending all fluid back to the reservoir. With the Diff there is only 1 pressure line going to the diff, no return, so i'll see if the air makes it back to the reservoir via the ASD controller |
