Hello,

The time has come to change car again, so I'm after some advice. I don't want this to be a for sale thread so won't put up lots of info about the car to stop that from happening.

Is £750 too much for my 190?:
'92 2l manual petrol
White with 8 spoke alloys
Electric front windows
CD player/electric aerial
189,000 miles.

What do you think?

It is difficult to value your own car, I've asked the same question very recently of two of my closest friends here on the forum....

I know how much I paid for it, I know what's gone into improving the car, I know what it's cost me over the two and a half years I've owned her....BUT.... I'll not get that sort of money for a 2.0 auto with 170k and a rebuilt engine, with a wheel arch that needs attention............

:$

Older cars like these are tricky to value. A new car is easy because you just check its book value, but that doesn't really apply to something as old as a 190. All you can go off of is examples that are for sale and of a similar spec to yours, depending on location (cars up north are usually cheaper....that's what I have always found).

And as Mike has said, how much you have spent on doing various bits, doesn't really come into it because at the end of the day that is just the running of a car, not a real reason to bang on a premium.

End of the day keep an eye on the market and as the old saying goes.... It is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

I know it's very hard to value them, especially as they just go on forever for so little outlay!

We've had it in the family for 7yrs and apart from a waterpump nothing major has gone wrong. Even with all the snow this year nothing could stop it! 370mile round trips in a weekend were nothing. Brilliant car. Come on Mercedes, pull yourselves back to that level of build and quality!

Not that you'll guys will want to hear it but I'm moving on to a Subaru Legacy, which I'm hoping will be half as reliable!

I'll chuck up a for sale with picture just in case anyone is interested, otherwise she's going to be part exchanged next weekend. And unfortunately I think they'll just weigh her for scrap metal :(
