I love the looks of the Evo2 muffler and the exhaust tip/shroud so I was wanting to attempt to make a replica.
If anyone has any good pics of it, especially off the car, and could post them up for me, maybe even with a few measurements... I would really appreciate it.
I'll post up some progress when I get my stainless together to make it here on this thread as well...

Thanks guys. ;)

I thought someone might have as it looks so good, but I tried searching multiple variations to no avail. I only really have one good pic of it and it was a pic of the underside of an Evo 2 to show the rear skidplate more than to show the muffler, and its small and grainy at that.
I'll post that pic once I get home. I was hoping someone who had alot of pics of Evo2s for GTGs or maybe even someone who had an actual Evo2 would see this and could help me out...
But I know the muffler isn't exactly a stand out feature. Just subtle sexiness...

thank you. essentially, my plan is to buy either 2.5" or 2.75" ID stainless tube, and pull my stock exhaust off, and mandrel bend the stainless to match (checking each bend against the car on a lift before moving on to the next bend) just that single pipe that goes up to a flange right past the wbo2 sensor (which I will place in about the stock location) this will match the flange mated to my downpipe from the turbo/wastegate/crankcase vent.
and then another flange about 5" before the rear muffler tub.

then I will make something similar to this:
http://190rev.net/forums/showthread.php?t=36526
and it will have 5" of overhanging 2.5"/2.75" pipe on the inlet with a flange to mate to the straight pipe.
then where the outlet is, I want to make the outlet and exhaust tip that looks like the Evo 2.

the muffler can be tuned as loud or quietly as I want by removing or adding FMF respectively, and I just need a bead of copper RTV around the door when I bolt it shut. As big as it would be, I could rely on it being the only muffling device on my car.

I guess I should have been this specific to begin with..

well, i'm going to begin building this in the next week or so, but I thought I would ask for opinions on something first...

Should I do the muffler/tip in stainless?

I have everything I need to build it, but its all mild steel, and I wanted to go stainless but it is expensive, and I would need to order it and wait for it. so I'mwondering if it is worth it? I figured it would probably be painted black anyways... but how much faster would the mild steel rust?

for the exhaust pipes i would go mild steel lasts for ages anyway sounds way better than stainless, sounds to tinny i reackon
but i,d definitally do the tip in stainless as mild steel would surfiace rust to quick

ok. so mild steel for the inner pipes and the muffler box, then stainless for the tips and the tip shroud? I guess I can handle that. lets me start working on it while I wait for the stainless..
I'm actually debating doing the exhaust up to the header in mild or aluminized steel, and making only the header and downpipe from stainless as budget is an issue...

Stainless manifolds are a bitch to do except in the case you have access to TIG.

If you do MIG welding it will be safer with mild steel otherwise pay attention to the welding gas for your stainless welding and to the mating faces of the runners.
