Been meaning to do something about this for a while, but after doing some research on it I'm even more confused about what I should do! Any advice is greatly appreciated. So as detailed in this previous thread I ended up with a snapped driveshaft some time back which I replaced with a donor one. Everything has been fine since then but I don't want to chance anything going wrong with it again as the rubber boots are cracked and dried out and may be lacking grease. I've heard buying a driveshaft from MB would be crazy expensive but have no figures as I haven't bothered ringing them yet. However GSF seem to be selling them for reasonable money as: Part Number 438ME0070 for £103. I find this a bit suspect as from what I know the shafts on either side of the 190 are different lengths so really two seperate ones should be available? So not sure if this is an option? The other option is to sort out the shaft that is on there. Which would involve removing it, taking off the boots and re-greasing it and putting new gaiters on. Have never done this before so have a few questions about it. Should I avoid the universal boot kits that seem fairly widely available? Is this the one I should get as a 190 specific option and will it do both ends of the shaft? Are these kits available from MB dealers and are they crazy money? How much grease is needed on either end? Thanks for any input, and a happy Christmas to everyone on here.
