Hi everyone , need a little help if any one out there fancies helping a new 190 owner . i have a 1988 2.3-16 manual and have absolutely no idea how to tell or what the difference is between lsd and asd. dont have much history on the car so was going for an all out fluids and filter changes to be on the safe side , found out most things from other threads but having a bit of trouble getting my head round this one , thanx in advance for any help you guys can offfer , Rich. |

hi if your 16v valve is an early model it will probably have an lsd, later ones have the hydraulically operated lsd which will have small diametre pipes conected into the rear diff, others on the fourum will be able to explain better than me and in more detail, but your right to find out which one you have i woundnt think both types take the same fluid or oil hope this helps a bit |

It will have two lights on the dash. One is a big square one in the middle of the speedo and the other is a normal warning light to the right of the temperature gauge. The one to the right of the temp gauge lights up for a second or two when you turn on the ignition and the one in the centre of the speedo lights up when the ASD is activated (wheel spin). If the lights are not there then you dont have it!! |

Cheers guys , mine does have the yellow light in the centre of the speedo , so I'm guessing that it has the asd , info much appreciated , Rich. |
