well as you know ive been having problems with my car running, if i throw fuel straight down the carb, it will run fine, otherwise i can get it to start but have to keep the revs between 4 - 6 otherwise it will cut out without hesitation, opened the fuel pump relay up and it looks fairly new and the ovp fuse is fine, any suggestions? cheers

Could the afm plate's position-at-rest need adjusting? It's easy to do with adjust screw accesible from above the air filter. On the other hand, remember it's position before you try or you'll be making the situation worse. In the pic the orange arrow points to the pipe that pokes through the top of the air filter. To turn the adjust screw at its base, first push downward carefully (I think clockwise turn makes richer fuel mixture) How did your car get this way or have you just bought it?

Do the carb models have fuel accumulators?

That was something a few people suggested to me when mine wasn't running right. (i've got a 2.3-16 though)

The acucmulator basically is a diaphragm on a spring inside a sealed chamber. the fuel pushes slightly on the spring/diaphragm and when a sudden demand comes about (overtaking, pulling away aggressively) the spring pushes back to provide an added burst of fuel when needed. The diaphragm can split though meaning instead of helping it makes the engine barely run. Although if the carb model doesn't have that ignore this, pretend I typed nothing. ;)

:-/ have I blundered? seems like a mix up. Why would a carb model have the same relays as the Bosch model? :$
