My idle speed is around 1500rpm, sometimes a bit more when the engine gets warm. Its done this since I changed the M102 2.0 8V to a 2.3 8V, I've used the whole intake system from the 2.0 - would this cause any problems? Car is an 85 with idle air and mix adjusters, not the electronic idle... with the idle air screwed all the way in the idle sits around 1400 but I prefer not to have it all the way in. If I turn the mix screw counter clockwise by the time the idle is down to something I consider acceptable (800rpm) the engine is misfiring badly and the vacuum has dropped from around 18 inches down to 11-12 inches. I know this as the car has a boost/vac gauge fitted. Its frustrating me because the car runs pretty well now, but the elevated idle causes the engine to quickly warm up when at a standstill such as at traffic lights. I can shoot a video if anyone wants to see what is happening exactly. Cheers, Ian. |

Ok Rich, I've put it back to where it was, its now idling smoothly at 1500rpm and pulling 18 inches of vacuum. Where do I start to get the idle down to a more acceptable 800 rpm? Ian. |
