I have been informed that what I thought I had was a mechanical LSD from a 2.3-16V is in fact an ASD from a 2.3-16V , indicated by the fact that the speedo has a yellow triangle light .

So , in order to get the ASD to work properly I assume that the diff has to be wired to something ????

So what do we have to do ?

( I still have the instrument cluster as well . )

Hello Mate. Sounds like you had a shock finding that out! :D

Hope you still have all the hydraulics in place because it relys on the control valve block and sphere mounted under the front drivers side wing. This is controlled by the ASD relay mounted just in front of the battery. The signals come from the rear ABS sensor which allows the ASD to start operating when the rear wheel start turning faster than the front.

Does that help Jeremy?

OK brakes on everyone . I have just rummaged through my spares department ... all right the pile of boxes in the corner and my memory IS playing tricks on me ... I found the original instrument cluster and lo & behold , there is NO triangle window above the odometer .

Lets out long relief whistle .....

So the question NOW is .....

Is the original LSD a normal clutch type ? I ask this because of the fluid I will need in order to replace the old stuff , most of which seeped out onto my garage floor .
