Fan..welded on?; Another fan issue

not had the car long but noticed the fan is constantly spinning. Fan speed increases with engine revs. engine never gets above 80c it looks like the clutch system may have been welded together. ill try and upload a pic tonight.
should the fan always spin like this? not brave enough to try shoving anything at it and seeing if it stops

I take it you are talking about a 2 Ltr. motor.

If so then it will spin all the time due to its construction but when the motor is NOT running you should be able to turn the fan freely without it trying to turn the fanbelt ;)

When the motor reaches around 100c the 'Magnetic clutch' should come into operation and turn the fan at engine speed.

But as your motor temp. is around 80c that is normal.
