Hi I have discovered a leak from the top of the rubber hose that goes into the back of steering pump. Has anyone done this job of replacing this hose or can it be done by loosening the clip and cutting a piece off the end of the hose and pushing it back on again a bit shorter. From what I can see it looks in bad condition just at the end where it is leaking, seems to be coming out the end of the rubber. If it needs replacing has anyone the part Nr. and price of the new rubber pipe. It's for a 2 Ltr. Auto petrol, 1989 Post facelift model. Thanks a lot in advance |

I would, meeself, cut the grot off and shorten it. Cut down to "good wood" as you know of course. However.....have you ever disturbed a pipe like that and found the whole thing as rotten as a pear!? Take care mate, maybe a new pipe is the best bet

Just had a quick look on the russian parts page ( http://partscatalog.ru/mercedes via google translate) but I'm not too sure if it shows the one you mean. The pipe on there, A1022301156, is coming up as £130 at Inchcape. Maybe a local hydraulic supplier could sort something suitable out if the cutting off the end bit doesn't fix it. |

I have swapped out all the power steering pipes from the reservoir to the box on my 1st 190 when I crashed as I damaged the pipes going under the sump as well as the sump. I got a used ones from somewhere the name escapes me they are a merc breakers and just swapped them not a huge job think it was a 17mm spanner but it has been a while but might as well redo the steering fluid and filter when you have the pipe off |

Thanks for your input Lads, I think I worded it a bit wrong it is the pipe (rubber) that goes into the back of the resevoir, It is only held on by a screw-clip so I think I will have a go as daliscar suggests. And if it doesn't work then it will be off to the 'Scrappy' for a replacement. Without the PAS working
