As above my car seems to have develop a rattling noise from the gearbox, its really bad at about 2000rpm but seems to disappear at 1.5k or over 3k rpm. Sounds like a ball bearing in a metal can type noise. Also when shifting into 3rd or 4th gear its feels a bit spongy as oppose to shifting in smooth so not sure if that related. I had a quick look under the car this afternoon and couldn't see anything but was in a rush so didn't get to take a proper look. Does anyone have an idea what it could be? I shook the exhaust pipe but it seemed pretty sturdy and couldn't see it touching anywhere so don't think its that, which makes me think it could be something to do with the gearbox its self. Its a 2.0l manual if that's any help. |

Get the car onto axle stands and spend a good 15-20 minutes under it inspecting the gearbox exhaust mount & clamp, the heat shields above the exhaust & cat, the tiny heat shield that clips onto the Lambda Sensor, the downpipes, etc. |
