Hi all My dads 190d started leaking diesel between the nut and the pipe on the injector nearest to the bulkhead A local garage has apparently sealed the leak with some 'rope'! Can anyone help and suggest what may be needed to fix it? Thanks |

Hmm sounds like it could be the leak off pipes? Perhaps a pic would be helpful. |

+1 on the leakoff. The last injector has a short length of rubber on its exit. It doesnt go anywhere and they are a reasonably common failure as the cars get this old. I just replaced mine with a short length of pipe and a correct sized stainless screw. MB do short tube with a sealed end instead. A photo will identify this very quickly and most likely extremely cheaply. |

Ok I've taken a look and see two problems... Firstly is is seeping fuel from the top of the hex nut that the steel fuel pipe goes into that feeds the injector The manifold was removed by a mechanic that changed the glow plugs and I suspect some damage occurred in refitting the fuel lines Secondly it looks like an injector is not seated properly as at the bottom, where the injector sits there is slight bubbling of oil. I'll try and see if tightening the injector helps fix this. So the problem is with the steel fuel line and the nut / cap that tightens onto the injector. Is there a washer that sits under this cap? Any help appreciated

So here are the issues.... First picture shows where the diesel is leaking from. Apparently it was gushing out and a local garage put some rope to try and help the seal. It is definitely seeping still as you can just see in the photo. ![]() This second picture is more difficult to see, but the video shows a glimpse of the problem. At the bottom of the injector, where it goes into the head there is bubbling. I assume it must be oil that is bubbling as air is leaking from the thread. Can this be solved by tightening the injector? ![]() The vid may help, its a bit short - but hopefully shows the leak on the injector nearest the bulkhead and the air bubbling on the 2nd injector. Lastly, every now and then there is a loudish 'clack' sound I'll leave this for now but could it be related to an air leak? Any help gratefully received... |

I would remove both injectors, completely clean the hole, the injector (including threads), and the end of the pipe. Do it all back up firmly and see what occurs. Careful not to let too much crud fall into the injector hole, I would clean the outside of the injector (where it goes into the head) as much as possible before removing it, get rid of anything that may fall in. |

The prechamber needs to be tightened, requires a special socket! Just tightening the injector will do nothing, you need to remove injector then tighten prechamber then refit injector. Looks like you also need to replace some of the leak off pipe. In which part of the country does one reside? |

If you took it to a reputable specialist they would fix it in a half hour for not much money. |

I knowhere fuel was gushing out and the motor factor referred to a seal which they didn't have in stock so a local garage budged it to try and stop the leak Just a point of clarification, are there any seals under the fuel pipe, between the pipe and the injector or under the nut /cap? |

There is no seal between the injector pipe to injector just the soft metal washer cylinder head to injector which are available from your local mercedes dealer and they are pence to buy |

Found the likely cause, a small fracture in the injector pipe, just on the shoulder. Im looking for a replacement pipe - if anyone has or. I've also posted in the wanted section. Cheers guys |
