Folks, i have a 1987 2.0 auto carb 190. The engine is utterly standard, but I'm abut to start a top end rebuild to replace the head gasket, head bolts etc. I understand that my model is an 8v, but i gather the latter post facelift models had a 16v head. Can i simply source a 16v head to bolt on to my block?... will it fit?...will to upgrade anything else? Please forgive me if i have wholly underestimated my question...as i suspect i have! any input would be welcome. cheers Gary |

The only 190's that had 16v engines were the 2.3-16 and 2.5-16 |

So to answer your question, no it can't really be done. You would have to put in the whole engine, with ancillaries, electronics etc. Your best bet if you want to improve performance is to get the Bogg Bros. bike carb upgrade. |

As already said, bogg Bross manifold and bike carbs or your own custom intake setup will make a huge difference but if you wish to go a step further then you can spend £50.00 on a porting kit and clean the ports from casting marks, and nearly polish the exhaust ports. this will improve engine response even more. |
