Hello My 2.6 auto from 1990 is rattling the exhaust, especially when changing gears or when at idling and I turn on the hvac blower or open a window- the power demand lowers slightly the idling speed. Previous MOT's have pointed out that the exhaust was rusty and i was thinking of changing it myself soon. The problem is that my 2.6 is a non-catalytic converter and cannot find anywhere that kind of middle box section. I've searched the web and it seems that no longer exists, just the catalyst one. Does someone knows where could i find the non-catalyst middle section? cheers |

Have you checked it isnt the heat shield ? It is quite common for them to come loose and rattle. |

hello Yes it could be some heat-shield (I believe they are in several places along the center section, after the downpipes), but even so, I'd like to change the exhaust sections. So my problem is just that it seems not to be easy to find that central section without catalyst., probably besides the dealer (but even there it could be difficult, besides the money it would cost) Could anyone point me in the right direction cheers |
