Checking in from the US. Bought an 87 190D Turbo about 4 years ago. Nautical blue with blue int. It needed some work. Vacuum lines were messed up and it was not making boost. Fixed that among many other things. Bilstein HD shock and struts, added a W124 V8 front sway bar, front A arms, rear bushings. Got the A/C and HVAC system working and added CLK Lightweight wheels and Euro lights and BBS rear spoiler. I was having trouble finding blue interior so I changed it to black, like it better anyway. Replaced the dash with a later uncracked black one, added CF Sportline dash parts and covered the wood parts with fake CF wrap. Next is body work and paint in about a month. It has been in Texas it's whole life so there is no rust.

Hello and welcome :)

I love the car and what you have done with it so far. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with it.
16" Toliman's look fantastic. Should they have lower profile tyres on though? Maybe it's just the pictures that make them look a bit bloated. I have never seen that rear spoiler before. Interesting.

We never got the turbo diesels in the UK due to the steering box being in the way, and as such never got the fabulous vented front wing. I like what you have done with the 16v dash console. I am looking for ideas as to what to do with the one in my project car.

Thanks. Did not realize they were not available in RHD. The tires are about the same height as stock. The tires are 205 55 16.

The fenders with the vents are hard to find here as well. 87 was the only year imported here and only 1300 at that. I would love to find a manual HVAC system and euro headlight wiper setup.

stwat, the 16v gauge is just the standard wood peice covered in the fake cf wrap. I installed a boost gauge and I mounted my phone mount next to it. I may install a pyrometer later.

I bet the lighter shade CF wrap would look pretty good with a grey interior.

Thanks BSharp, Im not a huge fan of the carbon fibre effect itself. I think ill experiment with a gloss silver finish.....

That was a couple of years ago, the price is almost back down to what it was. The station is actually Willie Nelsons Truck Stop in Carl's Corner Tx.

My god ours is on average £1.35 a liter at the moment !!!

I'm pretty sure your tyres should be 45 profile with 16" rims by the way. Did you get the wheels from a W210 E-Class?

The wheels are from a mid 90s CLK 320, 16x7 14 lbs. The CLK came with 205 55 16
The stock tire was 185 65 15 and the 205 55 16 are within 1/3" and they do not rub, a 205 45 16 is about 1.3" shorter. Too short IMO, speedo would be way off and mpg would go down.
Here are a couple more pics that may show the tire height a little better. The car is also lowered about 2/3"

What I like about it (and I don't know if it's the colour balance of the images) is that there is the *tiniest* hint of green in it. Really subtle.

Spent most of last sunday repairing the inner fender panel on the drivers side because of a wreck before I got the car. It was pushed down about 1/2" at the front.
Posted Image
Got the lights straight and level for the 1st time. (I am getting it painted soon).
Posted Image
Then today at lunch, guy backs into it with his Dodge truck and pushes the hitch through the passenger side light. Got his ins. info. Lucky the pass. fender was not damaged, 87 Turbo Diesel fenders with vents are a one year only item.

I have been lacking in posting any updates on my 87 190D Turbo. Got it painted. I stripped all the trim off and repainted all of the pieces. All 30 of them. Went back to the original colors. Added headlight wipers and low mileage tail lights. Replased both front doors and the front bumper cover. Did some custom interior mods. Added a temp meter above the HVAC controls to show the vent temp and added a digital volt meter in the upper console. Repainted instrument cluster needles. Also added door speakers by cutting holes and adding factory grills.

Austin is about 3.5 hours south of me, my parents live just north of there. Be sure to wear your cowboy boots, their dog was bitten by a rattlesnake last monday. She survived barely.
