Hi all this is my first post and I need some advice please.
I have the chance to buy some good 15 hole alloys they are 15" and are fitted with 205/60/15 continental tyres my question is will the fit my car that is currently fitted with 185/65/15 tyres and hubcaps without causing problems.
My car is a standard 190e 2.0 petrol 1993 with 36000 miles recorded any help would be appreciated

Hello and welcome.........201/60/15 sounds like a rather odd size feckknows although the wheels should fit, check the offset also. If the wheels are from another 190 you should be o.k.
Have a look at the FAQ-190 section at the top of the Home Page.
36k is very low mileage. Any pictures?

Hi sorry typo error
Should now read 205/60/R15 the part number is 2014001302
I will sort some pictures out this week, the car is rosewood colour with the usual beige check cloth interior and is almost perfect, it is fitted with Mercedes mud flaps these are my concern with the larger tyres

205/60/15s are a tiny bit too tall.
205/55/15 is the appropriate size for a 190 running 'wider' 15s.

It's your car, but if it's anywhere near as nice as the mileage indicates, I wouldn't risk fitting oversized tyres. They'll rub the front wings, and you'll be really upset. Been there, bought the t-shirt, etc.

Thats a lovely looking car! B)

What wheels are you considering? To be honest, anything other than original 190 wheels might take away from it in its condition.
A nice set of 8 holes would really look the part, Id stick with the original tyre size for comfort and asthetics too.

I personally run 205/55/15 on my car with it lowered 40mm but I think that it can look lost in the wheelarches on a car of standard ride height...

Hi Silver Star,
I plan to fit the 15" x 7" 15 hole Mercedes alloys 2014001302 they already have 205/60/15 continentals fitted.
I have always thought that these look good on the 190e. I prefer the oval hole to the slots just my choice.
I just don't want to mess the car up and had assumed that as they were genuine Mercedes wheels they would go straight on without any issues.

Those wheels will fit and with a 7J width will look smart. Are you getting wheel bolts with the wheels, as far as I know the steel wheel bolts are different to those on the alloys?

To be honest both sets of tyres will fit and if you dont mess with the ride height I dont see of any issues with rubbing etc. Its a personal preference for how the wheels look in the arches..

The current tyres on the rims are inappropriate however and will cause issues.

Sorry are you saying that the 205/60/15 currently fitted to the alloys won't be suitable??

Correct, they will rub on cornering, bumps etc and on a car with your mileage and condition you dont want that heartache!

The sidewall of the tyre is basically too tall.

Consider the cost of new tyres VS the cost of repairing bodywork....

To clarify, the wheel itself is OK, its the tyres fitted currently that will cause issues. ;)

Thank you for your help with this, I may still buy the wheels and replace the tyres when I can afford to as these are getting hard to find.
I would like to get just the standard size alloys to be honest as I just like the look of the I don't want to spoil it I just want to enjoy driving a great car

Whilst replacing your current wheels would be nice with the larger wheel 7J 15's with 205/55/R15's or with the narrower 6.5J 15's (similar wheel face, 7J has rounded edge of the slot holes and the 6.5J square edges) it won't really improve the ride or handling to a degree that would justify the cost. I'm in the camp of the original wheel looks good but it's your choice of course.

Hi I picked up the 15x7 15 hole original alloys and although dull are in great condition with no kerb damage.
They came without Center caps or bolts but were fitted with 205/60/15 continental Eco contact tyres with plenty of tread which I will replace with 205/55/15 tyres as advised by the knowledgable members.
Can anyone help with the length of wheel bolt required for fitting please. :)
