Hi all, Thought I should introduce myself as I've been browsing the forum lately looking for inspiration/tips about buying my first 190. If anyone has any top tips on what to look for (I've read the buyers guide) then they would be much appreciated, or indeed if anyone is looking to sell. I'm preferably looking for a 2.6 manual, possibly a 2.0 manual. My budget is under £2000 which having looked on ebay and auto trader etc doesn't sound too low(??) though I'm not keen on having to do any work to get it on the road as I've got enough of a project to be getting on with at the moment. Thanks Ben |

Hi and welcome Ben, main thing to look out for is the dreaded rust, just take a look at the threads on here and it's scary to see what can be lurking...if you do manage to find a half decent car that's within your budget I would check the ball joints for wear as they can be dangerous if they fail...check out the thread to see what I mean..make sure the diff isn't too noisey , check the heater matrix is working and not leaking coolant into the floor wells,..if you find one with a good service history it will be a bonus, good luck mate. |

Thanks for the welcome, and the info Mick. Can anyone estimate the difference in running costs between a 2.6 and 2.0? Is the 2.6 significantly more expensive to run? Ben |

Hi Ben, a mate has a 2.6 and mines a 2.0 both auto, I seem to get more mpg, it depends on how heavy footed you are as well, I prefer the 2.0 but I'm a plodder but that's just me, my mate however is a speed demon hence more fuel stops. |
