Can anyone tell me where this 2 pin plug ( actually socket) should connect to on my 2.5 16V automatic gearbox? It has a fine pitch thread and has been disconnected and tied back out of the way.
What is it's intended function and what is the effect of it being disconnected.
one comment was overload protection??
I cannot see anywhere for it to connect to.

Any advice welcome.
Thanks.

Hi,
Hard to tell from the photo, does this have an engine heater, screwed into the engine block, trace the cable and see where it goes.
Thats the only thing i can think of at the moment.

I think the reverse light runs through the neutral switch.

Reverse light works .. so I guess not that.. And no engine heater.. thanks for the suggestions.. It may be redundant on all Auto's but I doubt it. need some good pictures of an Auto box out of the car to see if there is a 2 pin connector on the box somewhere..

Is this the original gearbox? Plug should be on left-hand side according to Haynes, but it says"where applicable" so could be a cruise control thing maybe or something not standard anyway.

As far as I know it is original box... And yes this is on the left hand side. .. And cruise control works.., oh well... I'll just have to get a better look when up on a ramp.
