I have a squeeky sound coming from the water pump which I first thought was the belt but disappears when the pump pulley is sprayed with WD40 so I know its pump itself. I'm curious to know if it could be cured with a removal and oiling or does it mean a new pump ^o)

you will be able to lube it a couple of times but you will need a new pump shortly, best do it before winter sets in and it starts to leak.

Yes best to sort it out now. You'll have to do it sooner or later. They're not expensive on the 102 and fairly straightforward to change.

I was so sure it was the pump that was squeeking but still working. Saw a YouTube vid over the weekend on diagnosing squeaks with the engine running and in it the tensioner was at fault so I tried a similar test. Squirt WD40 over the power steering pulley but not on the belt and hey presto the squeak stopped. On closer inspection the vee belt wobbles slightly so now I'm thinking that it is indeed the tensioner pulley.

Had a look on ecp and they stock both the complete bracket and also just the idler wheel. Hope its just a bolt off/on jobby, nice and simple plus cheap ;)

Just the pulley should do it. 6 mm Allen key required to change it.

Good stuff, always like a nice easy job.

Still got the front flex disc to replace and the matrix to back flush. They won't be easy..... :'(
