Took my 190d in for it's Mot on Friday to my local authority testing station. They don't do repairs so offer a fair service in my opinion.

Get there on time for my early morning appointment and the first words the tester says is i will go and see if i can test the car. This puzzled me but i sat down in the waiting room and started to read a magazine.

Then less than 5 minutes later he comes back and says he can't test my car because it has an oil leak from the injection pump. I had an advisory for it last year but it has caused no starting problems and just leaves a little patch on the ground every morning.

So he says i need to get the leak fixed before he can test it because it will effect the diesel emissions test.

This is the second time i have been left high and dry just trying to get my car tested. :(

So now i need to get hold of the splined tool for removing the fuel delivery valves on top of the pump. Does anyone in the North East have one i can hire or borrow to do the job?

It looks like it is just the one valve leaking, and luckily the one at the front of the pump.

Pre MOT checks are what the testers done, all I do is check all doors and bonnet and boot open then I test the car.

I now have another 12 months test on the old smoker. Happy days!

It failed yesterday on 2 things. One headlight beam was aiming too low and one of the indicator bulbs had gone inside the instrument cluster. Pretty chuffed that was all that was wrong with it.

The tester even said he thought i might have had trouble with the emissions test seeing as it has done just under 300000 miles but he commented on it being very good emissions wise. Maybe the veg/diesel mix i use helps?

Cheers again to Zak for letting me use his pump socket. I will get it back to you asap.

Cheers Zak, it drives so much better without the 4 leaky delivery valves, a lot more poke if that is possible on a 190d

Hi James , I'm starting to get a little bit of feeling back in left hand side thanks to the amazing physio people. I know I've got a long way to go but small steps everyday. I just want to say how much I appreciate what you and the lads have done about 190 of the month. It was a smashing gesture and it cheered me up no end.
Take care mate,
Mick
