I'm going to try and take out the engine & gearbox from my valver over the holidays,

I presume I'll have to support the rear of the gearbox (with a skateboard etc) drop the small cross member at the rear of the gearbox , undo the coupler bolts and linkages etc and I'm good to go or do I

have to mark the coupler or something for when its time to put it all back together?

I have just taken my 2.5-16 out so may be able to help...

From the gearbox side of things I removed the speedo drive cable (1 awkward 10mm bolt) and the clutch slave cylinder (two 13mm bolts I think) and removed the clips from the linkages, I then put a jack under the gearbox and took the weight and undid the gearbox crossmember (4 bolts going from car chassis rails to xmember and then 2 bolts from gearbox to xmember) and also undid 3 bolts connecting the propshaft to the gearbox although that's not fully necessary as further down the line the propshaft has a splined section which just slid out for me anyway.

My engine was already free so all I needed to do then was use crane to lift engine and release jack under gearbox and pull it all out.

Hope this helps!
