So after a post I made a while back today I took the 190 out (2.3) After 10 miles of driving for about half hour or more the temprature of water was still just slightly over the 1st line after the 40 degrees, I opened the Bonnet and touched the top rad pipe and it was only warm I had my hand onit with no problem off feeling to hot Would this indicate the thermostat is stuck open? Let me just say the car gets to the 1st line above the 40 within 5 minutes but struggles to get any higher Also will be worth mentioning the car has only come out of storage this year after 7 years being parked up All opinions welcome thank you very much |

7 years parked up? I'd be changing the stat and coolant and flushing the system thoroughly with a concentration of citric acid. The brake fluid will need changing too. |

Seems a dead cert that the thermostat is stuck open, you could always test it by inserting it in a pan of hot water. Oh yes, I would also mention that after ten years of standing I would be changing all fluids.

If that does not work the heater rad might be clogged with lime scale, if so disconnect the inlet and outlet pipes in the engine bay, get some descaler and boil it up in a kettle and pour it in the inlet pipe, wait till it comes out the outlet pipe block it up leave it for half an hour repeat if necessary. |

The heaters work fine nice and hot only the middle ones are ice cold but a few 190 I have been in do the same thing might be a common fault ? It's just the temprature of the car it self |

It's quite possible the thermostat(if it's there) stuck open after it opened for the first time in seven years.. |

Definitely try the thermostat first. Careful with the bolts, they snap very easily, there is a rubber seal so they dont need much torque. |
