Hi does a Petrol Automatic Gearbox fit onto a 190 2.5 Diesel Automatic car?

I have a problem with the Auto box on my 2.5 Diesel and it looks like there might be more Petrol Models breaking for spares that there is Diesel so wondered if this can be done?

The Mechanic said that it looks like because of an oil leak the Gearbox was running on very little oil which in turn has caused damage to the box

Anyone any idea where to find a decent box?

Thanks

The ratios are the same according to my french RTA for all auto models so yes you should be ok(Code 722). It's just the rear diff ratio that changes. The w124 auto box is probably the same but you'll need to confirm that.

I would take a chance with a S/H box from a reputable breaker and redo the seals before fitting. One like this would do I should think http://www.leboncoin.fr/equipement_auto/478607740.htm?ca=5_s note code on the side
