It's mated to a 2.5 diesel.
I have a new filter and gasket.
Is the fluid spec A.T.F.-U ?
How much do I need ?

You need about 6 litres. I was going to use just cheap Dexron II for mine(which I still haven't got round to doing despite having the filter and sump gasket as well as two gallons of Carplan Dexron II), but you can use Dexron III as well.

I don't think you need anything fancy.

Not being an expert myself, after reading around the forum I felt it was worth sticking to the script for auto matters.

I got a genuine filter, seal and washer from the dealer. ATF, according to my owner's manual is spec 236.4 or 236.6. A quick google on "Mercedes 236.6" brings up this page - a list of MB approved products. I used Castrol Dex II, mainly because you can get it everywhere. No doubt there are cheaper options.

Deffo go ATF!! Should be changed every 21k, although before the dealers said they don't need doing, now they recomend it at that interval
