Its been a while but here is a small update.

Car went in for its Mot which uncovered a lot of work that needed doing just to get it on the road which I did expect but not quite so much.

Posted ImageIMG_9062 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_9519 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Some of the bad bits that I got pictures of.

Posted ImageIMG_9512 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_9513 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_9514 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_9515 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_9516 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

While the car was getting the work done I started ordering parts ready for when I got the car back.

First was some nice new split rims that I wanted before anyone else did on one of these W114.

Posted ImageIMG_9510 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Mercedes Barock wheels made into 3 piece splits.

Posted ImageIMG_9511 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_9411 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Test fitting showed that I would need to space out quite a lot so I ordered these H&R 30mm spacers.

Posted ImageIMG_9520 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

These were perfect for the fronts but will need bigger ones for the rear which I will order once the airride has been fitted just in case I go out to far.

Then I got fitted the wheels properly.

Posted ImageIMG_9521 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_9522 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Then I found a rear window blind on eBay also which I just had to buy.

Posted ImageIMG_9523 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Then to top it all off probably the coolest things ive ever bought.

White Walls.

Posted ImageIMG_9524 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Fitted.

Posted ImageIMG_9525 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Please ignore any of the bad bits of bodywork you can see as I know is it a state at the moment, once back from having its airride fitted it will be going into the bodyshop for a full make over.

Last weekend when I dropped it off at Studio Incar.

Posted ImageIMG_9526 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

More updates soon. :D

Right then here is a long due update of what's been going on.

After picking up a cheap headunit for the car as it didn't come with one I came across this set up which I always planned to get for the car, so I couldn't say no.

Becker unit & cassette player.

Posted ImageIMG_9527 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

As the car was at Studio Incar I had it sent direct to them so they could fit it properly, as the car had no wires or ariel etc.

Also updates were coming through thick & fast about the airride.

Parts turning up.

Posted ImageIMG_0792 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_0869 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Then I had pics of wheel set up they were aiming for.

Posted ImageIMG_0800 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_0806 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

As you can imagine I was very happy with the outcome.

Then lots more pictures kept getting sent to me of different stages of the build.

Start of the boot build.

Posted ImageIMG_0873 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_0908 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Brackets for the bags were then designed/mocked up & trail fitted.

Posted ImageIMG_0916 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_0919 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_0920 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Then they were taken away to get power coated.

Posted ImageIMG_0955 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Then fitted in place.

Posted ImageIMG_0957 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Lines going in.

Posted ImageIMG_9530 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr\

Posted ImageIMG_0917 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

And the last thing they were waiting for was the dampened brackets.

Posted ImageIMG_1311 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

And finally all done sitting on the floor (well wood blocks for time being as the exhaust won't let it as hangs too low lol).

Posted ImageIMG_0962 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_0970 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

And one of the exhaust problems lol !

Posted ImageIMG_0967 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

One on the white walls.

Posted ImageIMG_0992 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Boot was then trimmed & finished (which I still can't believe how good it looks).

Posted ImageIMG_1340 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Sorry no colour ones yet as it's a surprise.

So last Saturday I made the long journey up to Studio Incar to pick the car up & see it with my own eyes for the first time, WOW was my first word & I can't explain how good their work is, big thanks goes out to the guys who made this happen.

That evening it was tucked away in its brand new home which isn't still finished.

Fingers crossed it's ready

So the big job has started of the full respray, after dropping the car off to one of my best friends bodyshop I started to stip the even more, first all the handles & grille came off then I started on the doors & bonnet.

Doors & Bonnet off to get blasted.

Posted ImageIMG_1546 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

The boot lid will also get blasted at a later stage as at the moment it is protecting the boot build from all the dust etc.

Then I left the car with them so they could start the prepping ready for paint.

Posted ImageIMG_1597 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

As they are really busy at the moment I've been helping prep the door shuts.

Posted ImageIMG_1624 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_1621 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Also the roof was probably one of the worst parts of the car, so that would need stripping back to metal which I started Friday afternoon but didn't get quite enough time to finish.

Posted ImageIMG_1635 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_1633 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_1797 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Yes I know the rear screen is still fitted but it will be coming out next week.

Also the doors & bonnet came back from the blasters in really good condition, which we were a bit worried about as we thought they wouldn't come back in one piece, all in all so far I've been very lucky with the lack of rust.

So carrying on after my last post the cars prep went on & on & on lol.

Car was then ready to start getting primed.

Posted ImageIMG_1850 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_1856 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_1847 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Then flattened down ready for paint.

Posted ImageIMG_2007 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_2005 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_2008 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Then I got sent these while I was away on holiday.

Posted ImageIMG_2020 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_2021 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_2024 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_2032 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

The car originally came with a black roof which I wasn't sure about at first but it started growing on me, then I had a idea of changing it to tie in more the cars new look I was going with.

So I decided to go with Mercedes Havana Brown which im so glad I did.

Posted ImageIMG_2027 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_2029 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

The guys in the bodyshop then fitted all the panels for me so they made sure they all lined up correctly.

Posted ImageIMG_2076 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_2078 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Once all painted I had the big job of putting the car all back together, I picked all my chromes up from Doug Taylor Polishing which I highly recommend & then started on the door handles, grille, lights etc to be able to get the home & out of the bodyshops way.

Posted ImageIMG_2088 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_2087 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_2091 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_2090 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

After getting the car home I cracked on with the rest of the chromes.

Posted ImageIMG_2097 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_2102 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_2103 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Bumpers had new rubbers fitted before going back on the car which a pain in the ass to do.

Posted ImageIMG_2124 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_2134 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_2126 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Then I cleaned the interior up & fitted all my little retro touches all ready for its very first show which happened to be the following day.

Posted ImageIMG_2109 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

During the week I speaking to a friend of mine who was going to the same local show about taking some pictures & he decided to make a day of, coming to my house, at the show & a old petrol station we stopped at on the way home.

The feature is now up on the Slam Media website, see here - http://slammedia.net/the-governor/

Here are a few of my favourites from the shoot.

So after Retro Rides two weekends ago I found out that actually picked up an award for one of the Lowset's cars of the show which I was really shocked about as there were some very special cars there despite the weather.

These were the awards & also the stand I was part of on the day also won best club stand.

Posted ImageIMG_9531 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

So this weekend just gone I decided last minute to pop along to a localish show at Cheddar called Sweetshop Automotive Summer Showdown & came away with this best car in the park, another shock.

Posted ImageIMG_2530 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Here are some of the best pictures I've found from the day.

This all happened over last year mate & the chrome does look good,a few bits could be better tho.

The chrome was redone by a company called Doug Taylor Polishing in Weston Super Mare.

Its been a busy few months of shows & meets for the Mercedes.

First a local Retro meet which I won best car of the evening.

Posted ImageIMG_2561 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Then I decided to take it along to the Forge Motorsport Action Day at Castle Coombe.

On the Forge Motorsport stand.

Posted ImageIMG_2628 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_2630 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

While I was there I got invited to 100% Tuning in Rotterdam which I really couldn't say no too as its not often you get invited to such a big show, so ferry & hotel was booked & off we went.

Inbetween waiting for then the previous owner sent me some pictures he found of the car.

Posted ImageIMG_2909 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_2907 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_2908 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

So cool as that is one thing I do want to do in the future is use it for a wedding car.

Back in the bodyshop for some more little touch ups & I had the whole of the underneath plus inner arches undersealed, no pics tho im afraid.

Posted ImageIMG_9533 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Also ordered a new boot rubber & Grille rubber which I haven't fitted yet.

Posted ImageIMG_9532 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_2902 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

So then the time came for the long journey from Devon to Rotterdam which I must admit I was looking forward to lol !

Met up with a few mates in Bristol on the way & then carried on to Dover to catch the 07.30am ferry to Calais.

On the Ferry

Posted ImageIMG_3092 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Setting up at the show in the Ahoy arena.

Posted ImageIMG_3271 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_3269 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_3214 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

On the Sunday evening we had to move the cars from the hall we were parked in ready for the trip home on Monday morning.

Posted ImageIMG_3209 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_3203 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

And then we started the long journey home after a fantastic weekend at the show.

One of many fuel stops.

Posted ImageIMG_3223 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

It wasn't a great journey home, well not bad apart from the pot holes in Belgium.

Bent 2 lips.

Posted ImageIMG_3219 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_3220 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

So it was lucky I ordered these before I went, 2 inch ones for the front & with these I can then work out how wide I can go on the rear.

Posted ImageIMG_3809 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

So all in all it was a great trip apart a few hiccups, defiantly recommend it for next year.

With the bent lip problems & the time of year I decided to put the white walls back on which really suit the car, some people think even better than the splits but im not sure about that maybe as good.

Posted ImageIMG_3303 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_3315 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

Posted ImageIMG_3287 by Ian Woodridge, on Flickr

That's all for now, plenty to come over the winter so watch this space.

So that is the updates finished & the above pictures are as the car stands as of now, engine bay, interior & wider split rims are next on the list, one of the main reasons I joined up to this forum is to possibly find a new engine for the car, I did want to keep it original but I would also love to fit a Cosworth engine if I can find one for the right money, so if any knows of one for sale please drop me a message.

Really stunning! Engine wise, Cosworth engines are getting quite hard to find now, For a reasonable price anyway, it could be worth looking into a W202 AMG engine, I was looking at a C36 AMG as a donor car and transplanting all the mechanicals into my 250, when the time comes.... I believe Member Cos-Rob has 2 Cosworth engines, one in his 2.3-16 and one spare, not sure if he'd sell it but it's worth asking, you might want to give his build thread a quick read, it's an lovely 16v, recently had an extensive resto..

Not much of a update but I've now stripped the rest of the engine bay apart from a few wires.

Been a long time coming but the progress on the engine bay took a whole different direction as the car has pretty much had a brand new front end.

Here are a few quick pictures,I will do a full write once the car is all back together.
