The best place to start is removing the screws and carefully pulling with maybe a plastic pry tool the panels off the doors as this will allow u to drop the cills which are all screwed in across the top and underneath biggest problem will be rusty screw heads. Front bumpers are easy remove the screws from the corners in front of the wheels then there will be 4 at the front, the rears are harder if cosworth as they wrap around think u get at these from inside the boot. The arch extensions should be screwed in mine were bonded and a nightmare to remove! |

...might be of interest... I had to take all these panels off the car just to get the sill panel off when doing some welding around the jack points - they interleave with each other and have to come off from the doors downwards! I broke a couple of plastic clips on the small panels inboard of each wheel arch and got away with gluing the broken stubs directly back onto the body of the car when putting things back together: ![]() ...good tip for removing the clips using a thin screwdriver as shown - you do this with the panels still on the car and work from underneath the door and poke the screwdriver up inside the gap made by prying the panel away from the door gently. These clips are probably best left attached to the car, and not removed with the panel as pictured, as there's a good chance they will suffer a brittle failure at the male peg component on the body side. So, you prise off their fingers from the panel one-by-one and do the same in reverse when refitting: ![]() ![]() ...the red circles identify the tricky clips that I managed to break: ...front wheel arch: ![]() ...rear wheel arch: ![]() Definitely worth saving this job for the summer when the plastic clips will be a little softer and more forgiving! |
