I would presume so yes, the engine itself will be the same I just wonder if the location of the engine mounts would be different for the W124? You might have to do a bit of swapping parts over but yes it should fit! |

Hi,i see nothing in the link ,but i can say that a 2.5 d from a w124 is a straigh fit i already did it ,a 3.0 d six cyl is almost straigh you only need to move the mounts of the engine and the holes for the proper place are already there, you will need to move the radiator underneath the front bridge, one more thing be careful that control of the inyection pump is also vacuum operated if is only wired most likely you can not use it unless you have a connector where the rpm wires goes before it goes to the rpm clock ... It looks like a 1987-ish w124 what with the lack of Sacco panels. Surely it's straight swap. The W124 had the 2.0D too - though we didn't get it in the UK. The only things I would imagine might be slightly different are the plastic shrouds around the fan, since the engine bay might be slightly longer. It's in Wigan, so not that far from you. You could take some measurements of your engine mounts and drive over. Oilburner's done engine swaps, could be worth a PM. |

No no no........don't worry, I am reading all points, suggestions and opinions. I started this post at work today but haven't had a lot of time yet to read all the comments! Your details are VERY helpful and encouraging. Thing is I have chucked wasted money 💰 at the car and don't want to make any more expensive mistakes ! Sorry you can't get the link. I don't know why. |

the link is not important anymore, the question is are you trying to put a 602 912 (w124 2.5 d) in a w201 and what engine was or is in the car tell me |

The engine in the link is in a 2.5 TD Estate 1983/1990. The exact year is unknown. Greek Taxi puts it as a possible 1987. That seems like a sensible guess to me. |

I wouldn't get too hung up on it. it's a om602 going into an om602 car couldn't be any easier only thing to keep note of before you buy it is whether its vacuum stop or solenoid stop. |

My car is a 2.5 (5 cylinder of course) diesel W201. The bulletproof engine has done 227k and has a crack in number five cylinder. I will post up the full sorry story over the weekend when more time permits chaps. Thanks for following so far.......

We read you Dartony! What I didn't notice was you are in the Canary Islands. Lucky man! Land of the W124 and w201 taxi. It was a trip to Tenerife that sealed it for me, came home and bought my white diesel. |

Daliscar, you can have my 2.0D engine for £248. 72hp is enough for anyone and you get extra room under the bonnet for your suitcases Plus, you'd be the only man to ever do the conversion!

Hi i´m begining to think that the engine you are talking is not from a w124 but from a w123 am i right presuming this?cause w124 started in 1984-5 or it is a w124 but the data is wrong, if you dig in the net you´ll see w124 from 1984-5 to 1993...anyway the mounts in a 602 912(w124 engines) are in the same place ,like i said mine is w201 previously with a 601 and now with a 602 912 coming from a 1986 w124 and is stop operated with both vacuum and solenoid i use vacuum cause my car has not solenoid conector...if you already have a 2.5 d then the radiator fan protector is not a problem use yours Edited by dartony, Fri Jun 16, 2017 12:16 pm.

The engine in the link is the same as a 190d engine so it will be a straight forward remove and refit. |

I would go for a 3.0d six pot as that is a straight forward fit just need a 2.6 slam panel to lower the radiator. |
