Hi all Got back from work today a nice warm sunny day car running a little hot but nothing extreme, parked up, went to get the dog to go for a walk and noticed a pool of coolant under the car. Expansion tank almost empty so guess it must have started on the way home, had a look and when I squeeze the top hose pictured it would appear that the leak is coming from the top of the radiator (see second pic) where it joins the plastic housing that sits over it. Obviously I need to investigate once it has cooled down, but just putting this out here for anyone who might have an idea, my guess at this stage is the radiator is knackered. Thanks in advance for any help ![]() |

For anyone who is interested I resolved this today, the leak was coming from the top of the radiator as I suspected, it has seen better days (see pic) so drained the system and gave it a good flush out, judging from what came out it hadn't been done for some time. Removed the rad, bottom connections did not want to come off but wd40 and brute force eventually did the trick, installed new radiator from fleebay 40 quid with free delivery, filled with antifreeze and distilled water and ran it up to temperature to test all was well and job done and it only took about two hours, it might have been quicker had I not got talking to my neighbour. If it was the original rad, and I'm pretty sure it was, I don't think it's done bad to last 25 years.![]() |
