Unidentified wire?

Following a head gasket change I'm left with a spare wire that looks like it should go into one of the vacant slots on the bank of relays at E3 earth position...it doesn't! At least in the middle one anyway. I've just blown a 30A fuse randomly plugging it into a spare spade connection. I appreciate that not all of you have the earth point configured this way but any ideas guys?

I could be wrong but is that white block original for a 190, I've never seen one in any 190 I've owned or stripped down.

Tom's right I think, I've never seen a block like that either. I think some of that wire might be domestic wiring too.

Has it got aftermarket air con or eletric fans ? I've seen a similar looking relay block down in the passenger side wing on my early W202 and it's for the dealer fit AC.
