Anyone got any experience with cleaning car chassis and under body. Thinking to jack car up and attack with a wire bursh removing surface rust and grime. Followed but a sealant of some sort.
Thanks

Can you get under with a pressure washer ? After a couple of days when it's drained and dried you should then be able see what you have to deal with.

If its a daily or semi daily like mine I'd suggest pressure wash, dry thoroughly few days, jack up using axle stands (I did one corner at a time), light wire brush, then brushed and sprayed bilt hamber ub.

Note: wire brushing using this method is neck and back breaking and semi effective. If you want a seripusly good wire brush I suggest hiring a few hours of ramp time or getting a specialist waxoiling company to do it

+1... once you start, what you thought was a small job may become a big one.
But that shouldn't put you off. Just be prepared.

My car looked great underneath, until I looked closer... rear spring cups were a mess and I soon realised it needed some time and effort, so I took the rear subframe off and did a comprehensive job. Rear jacking points needed a welder too.

If you are committed to making the car last, assess the condition and take it from there. The factory underseal can trap water after all these years. A prod with a screwdriver will find the truth...

Enjoy! It's what being a old car nutter is all about.

It's a very worthwhile job doing. Should extend the cars ĺife for a good lenght of time. Periodically check the sealant used to check if bits need touching in.
I had a bit of scraping along a dirt and stone road/track. Will get mine on a ramp and see if it needs any touch ups
